Has the small size of the sensor been broken- Weikewei - Domestic Replacement

The small-sized records of the current sensor will be rewritten again. Infineon has recently created a new type of current sensor without shielding components and magnetic rings (magnetic field concentrators) using its Hall effect technology. It can consider the advantages of measurement accuracy and miniaturization. The area of the printed circuit board (PCB) is only one sixth of that of traditional current sensors on the market, breaking the current record for the smallest current sensor.

Juergen Mann, Market Manager for Infineon Automotive Electronics, stated that the tli4970 has integrated many external components into a single current sensor, helping customers reduce overall Bill of Materials (BOM) costs.

Juergen Mann, Product Marketing Manager of Infineon's Automotive Electronics Division, stated that current sensors have been widely used in solar inverters, power supplies, electric motors, and other industrial fields, with a total output value of approximately 400 million euros. In the future, its application will expand to smart grids and smart meters. The scale of emerging markets such as electricity meters, electric vehicles, and lighting is expected to continue to expand.

In response to the huge market opportunity for current sensors, Infineon has released the first tli4970 capable of measuring ± 50 amperes and actively joined the market. In the future, Infineon will compete with Ti, Maxim, Honeywell, Omron, and other semiconductor factories to seize market share in current sensors.

Mann pointed out that although the company is a newcomer to the market, its specialized Hall effect technology has disrupted the design framework of traditional current sensors. This structure can save shielding components and magnetic rings of current sensors, and reduce the size to 7 mm x 7 mm x 1 mm, even less than 1 euro, which can meet customers' requirements for developing exquisite appearance products.

Infineon's first current sensor used a clever arrangement of two Hall elements, as well as placing temperature and pressure sensors near the Hall elements for appropriate compensation. It eliminates plastic or metal shielding elements, thereby enhancing the magnetic field suppression ability of the magnetic stripe and improving accuracy. In addition, using an integrated Hall probe to detect the magnetic field of the current carrying conductor can also reduce the magnetic ring commonly used in current sensors in the past and avoid hysteresis effects that can easily cause inaccurate measurements. In this way, we can provide customers with miniaturized current sensors without sacrificing accuracy.

Mann emphasized that due to the size difference between the tli4970 and traditional current sensors, the company's order is not for the existing product line of the target customer group, but for a new generation of smaller product projects, such as solar inverters that are gradually moving towards miniaturization. It is expected that the demand for industrial customers to invest in the development of micro products will gradually increase, which will accelerate the growth of the micro electronic influenza detector market.
