Mlx91217 Hall Effect Current Sensor - Weikewei - Alternative Selection

Hall effect devices and IMC Hall devices provide designers with current sensing solutions for automotive applications

On November 7, 2018, Melexis, a global microelectronics engineering company based in Tysendero, Belgium, announced that it has accumulated over 20 years of experience in the field of Hall effect technology and has launched two new current sensing IC-mlx91217 and mlx91216. These two new sensors use the same high-performance CMOS core: mlx91217 uses traditional Hall effect technology, while mlx91216 uses Melexis' proprietary current collector (IMC) technology.

These two devices are used for automotive applications, especially for inverter phase current monitoring and DC bus monitoring applications, and for over a decade, Hall effect technology has been the preferred solution for these two applications. In addition to traction motor control, these two devices are also suitable for other embedded applications, such as DCDC converters and battery junction boxes, as well as any application that requires high-speed, fast response, or high-precision (over) current measurement.

Compared with the previous generation product, the new product has improved thermal sensitivity drift (33%) and thermal zero drift (50%). The new product also introduces more on-chip filtering and wire breakage detection functions. The disconnection detection function can indicate faults in the power distribution system. To improve resolution and sensor response, a trade-off can be made between signal bandwidth and noise ratio.

The x91217 adopts a thin VA (sip-4) package, which is easy to integrate into traditional Hall effect measurement rings. The compact through-hole package supports multiple lead adjustment and routing methods, making it compatible with PCBs using SMD technology.

Mlx91216 adopts the traditional Soic-8 package for SMD installation. This device adopts IMC technology, which simplifies current measurement without the need for external collector rings, making it easy to assemble and reducing size, weight, and cost.

Both devices have passed the AEC-Q100 Class 0 certification and are suitable for automotive applications with a working temperature range of -40 ° C to+125 ° C.

Bruno Boury, the product line manager of Mindray Magnetic Induction, commented during the launch of the new product: "In the field of Hall effect current measurement, we have sold millions of devices, and our latest product draws on our rich experience in this field.

Compared with the previous generation products, the performance of mlx91216 and mlx91217 has been significantly improved, and they are also very durable. These two devices are highly suitable for challenging applications in the rapidly growing modern automotive electrification market
