US spends $70 million to enhance Navy tactical network capabilities - Wekeway - focusing on cutting-edge technology

In a contract announcement on October 8th, the United StatesnavyPhiladelphia based defense contractor McKean Defense Group has been awarded a one-year contract to provide engineering services for the Navy's comprehensive maritime network and enterprise services, including "network technology and program services, communication and computer systems, and related certifications and information assurance for new development, current operations, and planned upgrades

The base period for contracts with irregular delivery and uncertain quantity is one year, with four options available. The value of the first year's work is $12228590. At the time of contract award, no funds were committed.

The work will be conducted in San Diego, California, Norfolk, Virginia, Hawaii, Washington D.C., Charleston, South Carolina on the mainland of the United States, as well as in Japan, Guam, Bahrain, and Italy outside the mainland of the United States.

According to the announcement, funds for the 2021 fiscal year will be designated as task orders.
