The Senate confirmed Lieutenant General David Allwin in a vote late Wednesday nightair forceThe next Deputy Chief of Staff.

Orwen was nominated as the deputy director and received a fourth star nomination, which was unanimously approved.

At Thursday's press conference, General Charles Brown, Chief of Staff, expressed appreciation for Alvin's confirmation.

Brown said, "I am very pleased that General Orwen has been confirmed as the new Deputy Chief of Staff. When our partners reach the highest standards, they are no longer the most important partners

Alvin will succeed General Sevi Wilson, the current deputy director, and is expected to retire after serving for 39 years. Wilson has held this position since July 2016 and isair forceThe longest serving deputy director in history.

Alvin currently serves as the Director of Strategy, Planning, and Policy at the Joint Staff Department of the Pentagon and is a senior member of the United States Military Staff to the United Nations.

He is a commanding pilot who has flown over 4600 hours on more than 30 aircraft including F-15, F-16, KC-135, C-17, and C-130. As a test pilot, he has 800 hours of flight time.

Overview of Orwen's career:

His past command included the 97th Air Mobility Squadron at Altes Air Force Base in Oklahoma from 2007 to 2009. In 2010 and 2011, Orven commanded the 438th Airborne Expeditionary Force in Kabul, Afghanistan, during which he also served as the commander of the NATO Air Training Command.

Orwin also commands the 618th Aerospace Operations Center at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois and serves as the Director of Strategy, Planning, and Policy at the headquarters of the United States European Command in Wacingen, Stuttgart, Germany.
