Türkiye's military sources confirmed to the Defense News that Türkiye's military delivered the first batch of Russian made S-400 to the Black Sea port of Sinop from October 5 to 6, where the country plans to test the capability of long-range air defense systems.

S-400The test will be conducted at the Sinop test site, where the civil aviation authorities have banned all flights between Sinop and Unyem east of the test site from flying at altitudes below 25000 feet.

The official report states that,S-400It will be launched towards the east during the testing period.

These batteries were transported to Sinop by an eight wheel drive military truck. Military officials say a batch of 10 British made female targets unmanned aerial vehiclesaircraftIt was also transported to Soopp for testing.

Türkiye first tested S-400 on US made F-16 fighter last Novemberair defenseSystem. The first batch of systems was delivered to Ankara in July 2019. Türkiye and Russia are currently negotiating to purchase the second batch of spot procurement based on joint production or technology transfer.

Türkiye agreed to acquire S-400 for US $2.5 billion by the end of 2017. The company stated that it will launch the system in April 2020. Under the pressure of NATO allies (especially the United States), Türkiye quietly postponed the launch process due to the COVID-19 flu pandemic.

Since the purchase of the S-400, Washington has suspended Türkiye's cooperation in the United States led multinational joint attack fighter program, which manufactures the F-35 fighter. The United States also threatened to impose sanctions on Türkiye if it started its air defense system.

Ismail Demir, Türkiye's chief defense procurement officer, said: "When to launch such a critical air defense system... This is a question not to be disclosed to the public. How many systems have been launched? Such questions do not meet the requirements. This is related to the geostrategic review with a country."
