What is the use of communication contactors?

When it comes to the use of AC contactors, let's first talk about the composition of AC contactors.

Basic components of communication contactor:

1. Electromagnetic system, including attraction coil, moving iron core and stationary iron core;

2. The contact system includes a main contact and normally open and normally closed auxiliary contacts, which are interconnected with the moving iron core;

3. Generally, AC contactors with larger capacity are equipped with arc extinguishing devices to quickly cut off the arc and avoid burning out the main contacts;

4. Insulated casing and accessories, various springs, transmission mechanisms, short-circuit rings, terminal posts, etc.

An AC contactor is an intermediate control component that has the advantage of frequently opening and closing circuits, controlling large currents with small currents. Working in conjunction with thermal relays can also provide overload protection for load equipment. Because it operates by electromagnetic attraction, it is more efficient and flexible compared to manually opening and closing circuits by humans. It can simultaneously open and close multiple load lines, and has a self-locking function. After manually short circuiting and closing, it can enter a self-locking state and continue to work.

AC contactor is the most commonly used low-voltage control device in electric drive and automatic control systems. As an executing element, it is used to connect, disconnect lines, or frequently control the operation of equipment such as motors. It consists of dynamic and static main contacts, arc extinguishing cover, dynamic and static iron cores, auxiliary contacts, and support shell. After the electromagnetic coil is powered on, the moving iron core is attracted by electromagnetic force, and the moving contact is directly or through lever transmission to make contact with the stationary contact, thus connecting the circuit. After the electromagnetic coil is powered off, the moving iron core automatically returns under the action of the reset spring, commonly known as release, the contacts separate, and the circuit is disconnected.

AC contactors play a role in connecting or disconnecting power switches in circuits. Their working principle is similar to that of AC relays, but the number, structure, usage scenarios, and installation methods of electromagnetic switches are different. AC contactors are commonly used in electrical circuits with a rated load current greater than 10A and a starting current of 60A or more. The AC contactor used in the electrical system of central air conditioning generally has a rated working voltage of 220V for its control coil. The coil current circuit is connected to the relay contacts through the connection or disconnection of the contacts, thereby controlling the on/off of the circuit power supply and achieving the purpose of controlling high-power electrical loads.

The function of an AC contactor is to connect, disconnect lines, or frequently control the operation of equipment such as motors. Its advantage is that it can frequently connect and disconnect lines, controlling large currents with small currents.
