Hall sensor is a magnetic field sensor made based on the Hall effect, widely used in industrial automation technology, detection technology, and information processing. The Hall coefficient measured through Hall effect experiments can determine important parameters such as the conductivity type, carrier concentration, and carrier mobility of the material.


Due to the small potential difference generated by Hall elements, Hall elements are usually integrated with amplifier circuits, temperature compensation circuits, and voltage regulation power supply circuits on a single chip, known as Hall sensors.


Advantages and Applications of Hall Sensors:


Many people know that the higher the automation level of a car and the more microelectronic circuits it has, the more afraid it is of electromagnetic interference. There are many lighting fixtures and electrical components in cars, especially high-power headlights, air conditioning motors, and wiper motors that generate surge currents when switched on and off, causing arcing at the mechanical switch contacts and generating significant electromagnetic interference signals.

The use of power Hall switch circuits can reduce these phenomena. Hall devices detect changes in magnetic fields and convert them into electrical signals for output, which can be used to monitor and measure changes in the operating parameters of various components in automobiles.


For example, position, displacement, angle, angular velocity, rotational speed, etc., and these variables can be transformed twice; It can measure pressure, mass, liquid level, flow rate, flow rate, etc. The output of the Hall device is directly connected to the electronic control unit for automatic detection.


At present, Hall devices can withstand certain vibrations and operate within the range of minus 40 ℃ to plus 150 ℃. They are fully sealed and not contaminated by water and oil, making them fully adaptable to the harsh working environment of automobiles.


Hall sensors can measure current and voltage of any waveform, such as DC, AC, pulse waveform, etc., and even measure transient peak values. The secondary current faithfully reflects the waveform of the primary current. However, ordinary transformers are incomparable and are generally only suitable for measuring 50Hz sine waves


There is good electrical isolation between the primary and secondary circuits, with an isolation voltage of up to 9600Vrms;


High accuracy: The accuracy is better than 1% within the working temperature range, which is suitable for measuring any waveform; Hall switch devices have no contacts, no wear, clear output waveform, no jitter, no rebound, and high position repeatability accuracy (up to μ m level).


Wide bandwidth: The rise time of high bandwidth current sensors can be less than 1 μ s; However, the bandwidth of the voltage sensor is relatively narrow, generally within 15kHz. The rise time of a 6400Vrms high-voltage voltage sensor is about 500uS, and the bandwidth is about 700Hz.


Wide measurement range: current measurement can reach 50KA, voltage measurement can reach 6400V.
