Product. The challenges associated with high-voltage direct current distribution systems include improving reliability and reducing the size and weight of critical components, such as the electrical load control unit (ELCU) for aircraft, or remote power controllers (RPC) for load control and feeder protection, as well as main bus switch contactors. Traditional electromechanical current breaking devices have poor reliability due to the generation of arcs during repeated closing and opening operations, and slow isolation speed for faults with potential high breaking energy, directly affecting system safety.

The onboard solid-state power controller (onboard SSPC) technology is accepted as a modern alternative to electromechanical contactors and circuit breakers due to its high reliability, "soft" switching characteristics, fast response time, ease of advanced load management, and other aircraft functions.
