In the long river of practical circuit design and application, the functions of fuses and circuit breakers are almost the same. They protect the circuit from the effects of overcurrent conditions. Although this is a fact, I have never truly accepted this statement because ideally, if the circuit design and use are correct, the circuit breaker should never trip. If the circuit breaker you are dealing with will trip periodically, this should be used as a clear signal to indicate that there is a serious problem with the circuit. In these cases, the convenience of resetting the circuit breaker is only used to postpone inevitable circuit corrections or redesigns. On the other side of the fence, the usual argument in favor of fuses is that they are very cheap. This particular argument does have some advantages, as a well-designed circuit will not blow the fuse, therefore, the one-time cost of fuses and supports is much lower than that of circuit breakers. However, if the circuit regularly burns out the fuse, in the long run, the accumulated replacement costs associated with labor and downtime will greatly increase the cost of the fuse group. In addition, if the fuse group is designated as a component of power disconnection, its cost can be comparable to an equivalent circuit breaker device.
