After entering the Cold War, intercontinental missiles became increasingly sophisticated with the development of rocket technology by the United States and the Soviet Union. When combined with nuclear warheads, the traditional military geopolitical advantage became too pale. Even if two opponents were blocked by oceans or mountains, they could instantly attack each other's domestic key areas. The United States and the Soviet Union back then were like two gun owners pointing their guns at each other's heads in a telephone booth, and the scene of both dying together could happen at any time.

Later, the leaders of the United States and the Soviet Union both received launch boxes with built-in nuclear launch buttons. If a warning signal is received, the maximum warning time is only 20 minutes. But the Soviet Union believed that the US nuclear submarine could attack Moscow on the European coast, and its missiles could arrive in three minutes, which was not enough time for even high-level personnel to enter the air raid shelter. Once such an explosion occurred, the Soviet high-level personnel would be completely wiped out, and strategic communication could even be paralyzed for several hours. The most important thing is that the United States will launch an unimaginable number of nuclear bombs.

In order to prevent the United States from preemptively or even completely annihilating the Soviet Union through this method, the Soviet Union set up a so-called dead hand system: a group of special soldiers stared at various sensors in a deep underground room all year round. Once any major city or base on the mainland experienced abnormal radiation and seismic waves, as well as the accompanying power outage, and could not contact the command center, the dead hand system, which also had all the nuclear launch permissions, would automatically launch nuclear bombs intensively to major cities in any developed country!

This kind of terrorist system emerged due to the inability to determine how much of its strategic counterattack force would remain under enemy nuclear strikes, and also to avoid any third-party or fourth party gains. At present, multiple nuclear armed countries, including China, have similar systems to deal with the worst-case scenario. This means that if a nuclear armed country is attacked by any other nuclear armed country, its nuclear bombs will be launched to any other country that may pose a threat to it, which may lead to nuclear armed countries throwing nuclear bombs at each other intensively!

Once such a scenario occurs, even if a city or base in a certain country becomes ruins, it is likely to continue to withstand subsequent nuclear strikes from overseas, because nuclear warfare at this time is already in a state of blind binding. Although all the nuclear weapons possessed in human history are far from capable of destroying the Earth or annihilating all of humanity in terms of power, they are enough to fundamentally destroy human civilization since the information age and even the industrial revolution!
