The US Marine Corps announced at the end of January 2022 that the Marine Corps Operational Test and Evaluation Squadron 1 (VMX-1) conducted operational tests on the AH-1Z Viper armed helicopter using the Joint Air Ground Missile (JAGM) on December 6, 2021, to continue testing and analyzing the missile's ability to attack land targets. In November 2021, at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, they evaluated the missile's ability to attack targets at sea.

Eight separate shots were conducted in this experiment. Representatives from the Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, Army, and enterprises were sent to the site to observe and participate in data analysis. Through this experiment, future armed helicopters can be equipped with new ammunition using two types of sensor technologies, and the performance of missile attacks on land targets can be optimized, significantly improving the attack capability of armed helicopters·
