Destron launches Surface Effect Amphibious Transport Vessel (SECAT) for expeditionary logistics

Vicorv High-Reliability Electronic Components

As the focus shifts from land-based competition to large-scale maritime operations, there is an increasing demand for the ability to execute maritime and onshore expeditionary logistics. As an industry leader and key integrator of ocean specialty ships for over 50 years, Destron Systems believes that Surface Effect Ship (SES) technology can be used to provide professional performance that traditional single hull ships cannot offer in logistics support operations. Based on our unique technical expertise, we are proud to introduce a new innovative design called Surface Effect Cargo Amphibious Transport (SECAT). This platform is based on SES technology and can provide advanced logistics capabilities required for Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations (EABO) and Distributed Maritime Operations (DMO).

As a surface vessel, the SECAT concept features an aluminum catamaran hull with flexible bow and stern seals to include an air cushion between the spine side hulls. This design can reduce the resistance of high-speed maneuvering and is essentially less susceptible to underwater shock waves, mines, submarine aiming, and torpedoes, thereby improving the overall survivability of the aircraft. Designed as a survivable and low-key high-speed connector, SECAT can transport 500 tons of cargo at a speed of 50 knots and 500 nautical miles in open sea conditions. This innovative design achieves performance capabilities such as survivability, maritime locomotive and vehicle cargo transfer, "foot dry" cargo unloading/onshore loading, high-speed shallow and deep water operations, and multifunctionality for transporting various types of cargo - all of which can greatly enhance the strengthening of the US Navy and the United States.
