US B-1B bomber uses new kit for hot pit refueling for the first time

According to a report by Air Force Magazine on October 14th On October 11th, B-1B bombers from the 9th Expeditionary Bomber Squadron of the US Air Force conducted hot pit refueling for the first time at Spandaum Air Force Base in Germany using the new "Multi functional Integrated Cooperative Equipment Refueling" (VIPER) kit. The VIPER kit can use local refueling equipment, can empty fuel within 10 minutes, and weighs only one sixth of a refueling truck. This kit is equivalent to a universal fuel adapter that can refuel all US fighter jets around the world, helping the Air Force implement the concept of "agile operations". By the end of 2021, the US Air Force is expected to distribute over 20 additional VIPER kits to Europe and the Pacific region.
