Israel launches Kit 300

IsraelLaunch Kit 300

In mid-2021, an Israeli company (Polaris) launched Kit 300, a new MCS (Multi Spectral Camouflage System) cloth that is more practical and effective in countering detection from thermal, infrared, or radar devices. The Polaris team said that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have conducted tests during the operation and found it to be effective enough.

Israeli companies have been trying to develop an MCS material for vehicles and ground forces to neutralize heat detectors like those used by Hezbollah in 2006. For over a decade, Islamic terrorists have been using night vision devices obtained from the black market, indicating that the West needs something similar to MCS.

Heat detectors have been infantry night vision devices since the 1960s. These portable devices were first equipped to American soldiers in the 1960s, allowing troops to see more clearly than enemies under moonlight or starlight. In the following decades, these devices became smaller, lighter, and more powerful.

Therefore, developing MCS materials to protect hidden vehicles and troops from detection by digital thermal sensors is now a priority. This is because thermal devices search for differences in heat. Hiding this has always been difficult, and Kit 300 MCS fabric is made better than any early material. The improved MCS material usually appears first on vehicles and is too heavy to be used by ground forces. MCS manufacturers will soon develop lighter versions for infantry. The new MCS network can provide a certain degree of shielding for infrared, thermal, and radar sensors. Some new materials are used for the soft roof of vehicles, which has been found to provide a certain degree of protection. The combat suit contains processed fabric, making it more difficult for thermal sensors to quickly detect soldiers in the dark.
